BYD Atto 2 DM-i can go beyond 1,000 km, will PH get it?
After launching the Atto 2 EV, BYD has now added a PHEV variant of its B-SUV

When it comes to EVs and plug-in hybrids (PHEVs), BYD has everyone on notice. With its generous lineup of fully electric vehicles and PHEVs at competitive prices, BYD is changing the way electrified vehicles are seen, as well as making them more affordable to buyers.
But if there’s one vehicle that BYD has yet to launch in the Philippines, it’s the Atto 2. First revealed for the European market earlier this year, it’s the brand’s all-electric B-SUV fighter that can travel up to 380 km on high-grade versions and can come with a single electric motor that makes 177 PS with 290 Nm of torque.
Impressive for a small crossover, but with PHEVs continuing to become more popular for buyers, BYD has revealed a plug-in hybrid version of the Atto 2. That’s right, say hello to the 2026 BYD Atto 2 DM-i, and from its namesake, it’s powered by the brand’s Super DM-i technology.
No exact specifications have been revealed yet, but the automaker has already divulged several key figures of the Atto 2 DM-i. For starters, the electrified crossover can travel up to 90 km on electric power. While not as impressive as the EV version, the Atto 2 DM-i does get an engine that serves as an onboard generator. With a fully charged battery and a full tank of gas, BYD claims the Atto 2 DM-i can travel up to 1,020 km.
This means the Atto 2 DM-i can cover a longer range than the Sealion 5 DM-i, which can already achieve up to 1,000 km combined.
Once launched in Europe, the Atto 2 DM-i will be available in two versions, with different battery sizes for each variant. In addition, the two models will have different ranges, power outputs, and performance. Design-wise, the Atto 2 DM-i will have a slightly altered look that consists of a larger grille, decorative lower elements on the front bumper, a new DM-i badge on the tailgate, the removal of side vents, and a new exterior color called Midnight Blue.
The BYD Atto 2 DM-i will make its European debut in Luxembourg before being introduced to the media in November 2025. The first deliveries will then begin in early 2026. With that, we’re keeping our fingers crossed that the automaker plans to bring it here and price it competitively against other B-SUVs.
After all, the Land Transportation Office (LTO) has already cleared the Atto 2 EV for the Philippine market, and the Department of Energy (DOE) has already recognized it as an electric vehicle.
