All-new Honda Prelude e:HEV coming to the Philippines

Earlier this year, Honda Cars Philippines Inc. (HCPI) received approval to bring a new passenger vehicle into the country. With a 1993cc gasoline engine, our best guess was that HCPI was already gearing up to bring the all-new Prelude to the Philippine market.

At the time, the automaker did not state anything about the Prelude being offered in the country. But at the 2025 Japan Mobility Show, HCPI confirmed that the hybrid coupe is indeed coming to the Philippines.

According to HCPI executives, the all-new Honda Prelude will arrive sometime in the first half of 2026, which means we can expect it to be here within the first six months of 2026 if all goes according to plan. Ever since the all-new Prelude was launched in Japan, the automaker has received over 2,400 orders, prompting Honda to temporarily stop accepting new orders.

At the time, Honda planned to only make 300 units of the Prelude per month, but due to skyrocketing demand, the automaker has reportedly increased production to meet the overwhelming demand. Since HCPI plans to have the Prelude be available by the first half of 2026, perhaps Honda would have already adjusted its production output to meet global demand by then.

No exact specifications for the Philippine market have been revealed yet. However, we won't be surprised if it has the same 2.0L e:HEV powertrain as the JDM version. It may also likely get components shared from the Civic Type R, which include the Dual Axis front suspension, adaptive dampers, and the Brembo brakes. Last but not least is its unique transmission that comes with the Honda S+ Shift function, which can mimic the behavior of an 8-speed automatic gearbox.

With the Honda Civic Type R set to ride off into the Philippine sunset, the eventual arrival of the all-new Prelude couldn't come at a better time. The only question now is, how much will the Prelude cost once it arrives here?
