2024 Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV previewed for PH

Mitsubishi Motors Philippines Corporation (MMPC) is putting out all the stops for its 60th anniversary in the country. Aside from displaying the XRT and XFC Concepts, MMPC is also previewing its latest electrified crossover.

After being spotted on local roads a few months ago, the 2024 Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV is officially being previewed to the Philippine market. Now on its fourth generation, the crossover gets a bolder design inside and out and gets a more powerful plug-in hybrid powertrain in the form of a 2.4-liter engine that's helped along by a pair of electric motors.

Starting with its looks, the Dynamic Shield grille dominates the front fascia of the all-new Outlander. It also gets the split headlight design that is now becoming a common theme among Mitsubishi vehicles. The rest of the vehicles come with stylish alloy wheels, wraparound LED taillights, a black roof, and the PHEV badge.

Open the doors and a sleek dashboard with a free-standing touchscreen infotainment system greets you. There's also the two-tone finish on the dashboard, a fully-digital instrument panel, an electro-mechanical gear selector, a drive mode selector, and a leather finish on the steering wheel & seats.

But perhaps the most important feature inside the all-new Outlander PHEV is the presence of third-row seats. That's right, the electrified crossover can seat a total of 7 people with ease. This could serve as a selling point for customers that want a plug-in hybrid with the benefit of having an extra row of seats.

Powertrain specifications have yet to be officially revealed. However, international markets get the Outlander PHEV with a 2.4-liter naturally-aspirated inline-four, a pair of electric motors, and a 20 kWh lithium-ion battery pack. The result is a total system output of 251 PS with 450 Nm of torque and an electric driving range of 61 km. In addition, Mitsubishi claims that the Outlander PHEV has an overall capacity of 676 km with a full tank of gas and a fully-charged battery.

There's no exact date yet when will MMPC actually launch the all-new Outlander PHEV to the public. But given that Mitsubishi has already received government approval for the next-generation crossover, we might not have to wait too long for its market launch.
