Hardcore Mitsubishi XRT Concept has arrived in PH

Remember when Mitsubishi unveiled its vision for the next-generation Triton/Strada pickup truck at the 2023 Bangkok International Motor Show (BIMS) earlier this year? Well, after making its world debut in The Land of Smiles, Mitsubishi Motors Philippines Corporation (MMPC) has just brought it to the country as part of its 60th-anniversary celebration.

Making its presence felt at the Mitsubishi Motors Philippines 60th Anniversary Expo at the World Trade Center is the badass XRT Concept, and boy does it look mean as heck. Despite being covered in a unique livery, the XRT Concept is our best look at the all-new Triton/Strada which was actually revealed several weeks ago in Thailand.

Like the concept that was shown at this year's BIMS, the pickup truck comes with front and rear over-fenders that highlight the vehicle's girth. Meanwhile, the mud-terrain tires and beadlock wheels showcase the XRT Concept's ability to go off-road, as well as highlight the Triton/Strada's highly-customizable looks. And in case you haven't noticed it yet, it has a snorkel at the front, too.

The front fascia of the XRT Concept shows Mitsubishi's new stylish design language for the pickup truck. Borrowing some styling cues from the Xpander Cross, it now gets a revised split headlight design with LED daytime running lights on the top and the headlights themselves placed on the lower section.

The rear of the XRT Concept has its taillights also wrapped in camouflage. However, it's quite apparent that it will have a new pair of eye-catching taillights complete with LED units. We can also expect the all-new Triton/Strada to get a tailgate assist at the back for easier loading and unloading of cargo.

We also managed to get a peek under the hood of the XRT Concept. While Mitsubishi was coy with powertrain specifics, it looks like the engine of the concept is the same one found in the all-new Triton Strada. That means it could be the new 2.4-liter turbo-diesel engine dubbed the 4N16. In its most powerful form, the engine benefits from twin turbos resulting in a power output of 204 PS and 470 Nm of torque. Lesser variants, on the other hand, get 184 PS with 430 Nm of torque, and 150 PS with 330 Nm of pull with a single turbo setup.
