Work, sleep, relax, in the special edition Nissan Caravan MyRoom
Nissan wants its customers to enjoy the outdoors in the Caravan MyRoom

The current generation Nissan Urvan has been with us for quite a while now. Sure, Nissan has been giving it some updates here and there like new engines, new color choices, and special editions like the 50th Anniversary model.
While Nissan could replace the people carrier in the not-so-distant future, there are still plenty of things the automaker can do to the vehicle. Heck, the sixth-generation Urvan (also called Caravan in Japan) was recently transformed into a posh home away from home by Nissan. Called the Caravan MyRoom, the people carrier has been turned into a designer hotel for the road.

The exterior of this particular Urvan may look just like a regular vehicle but step inside and you'll be greeted by a fancy-looking cabin. Featuring wood grain panels and modular furniture, the Caravan MyRoom quite literally flips the script in allowing the people carrier to have a living room, bedroom, dining room, and workstation.

Thanks to the modular furniture, users can move the tables, set or fold the bed, and even adjust the seats to their desired position or place. The table itself can be slid into place and is removable to make room for the bed. Nissan will even customers two types of beds – a two-part folding bed or a simple lift bed.

For privacy, Nissan put wood blinds and even a roller screen which give the vehicle a more upscale look and finish. Last but not least, the vehicle comes with a portable battery pack recycled from the Nissan LEAF that can power electronic devices and gadgets via a 100V AC outlet. This is perfect for those who want to enjoy the outdoors while in the Caravan MyRoom.

Two engine options are available for the Nissan Caravan MyRoom. First is the 2.0L QR20DE gasoline-powered engine that makes 130 PS with 178 Nm of torque. Next is the Mitsubishi-derived 2.4L 4N16 turbo-diesel that generates 132 PS with 370 Nm of torque.

Both engines are paired with a 7-speed automatic gearbox that drives the rear wheels. However, the turbo-diesel option is the only one that's available with a 4WD system.

While we cannot expect this special edition Urvan to become available outside Japan, customers who plan on turning their Urvan into a mobile home away from home could get inspiration from the special edition model.
