Nissan celebrates 50th birthday of Urvan with Anniversary special
Nissan reveals limited-run Urvan 50th Anniversary Edition

Believe it or not, the Nissan Urvan is half a century old now. That’s right, the people carrier from Nissan debuted back in 1973 and is now on its sixth generation. In order to give the Urvan (AKA the Caravan) a proper celebration, the automaker recently revealed a special edition model of the people carrier.

Say hello to the 2024 Nissan Urvan 50th Anniversary Edition and it has some unique features the regular models only wish they could have. Starting with the exterior add-ons first, the van features a unique blacked-out finish on the grille, door handles, power-retractable side mirrors, and the tailgate garnish.

But perhaps the most striking feature is the special 50th Anniversary decal on the tailgate to remind everyone this is no ordinary people carrier and the eye-catching Cashmere Greige which serves as the hero color of the anniversary special.

The vehicle itself is based on the Grand Premium GX which means it comes with some nifty extras like a stretched wheelbase and a low floor for easier ingress or egress. In addition, the 50th Anniversary also gets a unique leather-fabric interior along with the 50th Anniversary logo embroidered on the front headrests.

Under the hood, the Urvan 50th Anniversary Edition is available with two powertrain choices. First is the gasoline-powered 2.0-liter QR20DE four-cylinder engine that puts out a humble 130 PS with 178 Nm of torque.
The other engine is the Mitsubishi-soured 2.4-liter 4N16 turbo-diesel engine that generates 132 PS and 370 Nm of torque. Power goes to a 7-speed automatic gearbox that can drive either just the rear wheels or all four wheels, depending on customer preference.

Sales of the Nissan Urvan 50th Anniversary Edition will begin in Japan starting October 2023 until March 2024. Hopefully, Nissan will make the special color available to markets outside Japan, too.
