PH-spec Foton Wonder will be available in double-cab, single-cab variants
Both variants of the Foton Wonder for PH will get a 1.6L engine and a cargo-carrying capacity of over 1,000 kg

Last year, Foton Motor Philippines Inc. (FMPI) previewed its latest workhorse, the Wonder. It's a mini pickup truck that could take on the likes of the Suzuki Carry and Toyota Lite Ace. It also has a wheelbase that's over 3000mm and a 1.6L four-cylinder gasoline engine mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox.
We already know the Foton Wonder will be launched in the Philippines soon since the automaker has already secured regulatory approval for a light-duty vehicle that's powered by a 1599cc (1.6L) gasoline engine. But the question remains as to what body styles will be offered in the country. Fortunately, there has been a new development regarding the upcoming mini pickup truck.

The Land Transportation Office (LTO) recently released new homologation documents for the PH-spec Foton Wonder. Based on the initial specifications, the Wonder will be offered in both double-cab and single-cab variants. In addition, the pickup truck will measure 4870mm long, 1710mm wide, 1980mm tall, and will have a 3080mm wheelbase. It will also have 200mm of ground clearance and an overhang of 1410mm.
In terms of curb weight, the double cab version weighs in at 1290kg while the single cab variant is slightly lighter at 1190kg. Despite the Wonder's small size, the double cab has a cargo-carrying capacity of 1290kg while the single cab can carry more at 1390kg. This makes the mini pickup truck capable of hauling over a ton of cargo with ease.

Powertrain-wise, the PH-spec Foton Wonder will have a 1.6L four-cylinder gasoline engine. No exact output figures were revealed although based on what other markets get, the Wonder's engine makes a humble 120 PS with 152 Nm of torque and will be mated to a 5-speed manual transmission. It will also have 14-inch wheels wrapped in 175/75 tires.
With the LTO already releasing the homologation papers for the Foton Wonder, it might not be long before FMPI officially reveals the Wonder pickup truck. We'll be curious to know just how much the Foton Wonder will sell for once it debuts.
