PIMS 2024: Foton PH previews Wonder mini pickup truck
Foton PH wants a slice of the mini pickup truck market with the Wonder

There seems to be no stopping the growing popularity of pickup trucks in the Philippines. From hauling goods to being a lifestyle vehicle, the pickup truck is and will be a staple on roads in the years to come. Foton Motor Philippines Inc (FMPI) is no different as they are set to expand their pickup truck offering.

Serving as the brand's potential mini utility vehicle contender is none other than the Foton Wonder which made its local preview at this year's Philippine International Motor Show. First revealed last year in the PRC, the Wonder pickup truck can cater to various lifestyle needs while still adhering to the commercial needs of businesses.

It will be available in both single and dual-cab body styles and comes with a long bed at the back. It also has a long 3000mm wheelbase which makes it comparable to bigger midsize pickup trucks despite being smaller. It also has a payload capacity of over 900kg which is impressive given its small size.
Hop inside and the Wonder welcomes you into an ergonomic but stylish cabin. It has a flat-bottom steering wheel, a touchscreen infotainment system, and a center console that supports USB connectivity and a 12V power socket. Air-conditioning also comes as standard to ensure cabin comfort for passengers.

Under the hood, the Foton Wonder is powered by a 1.6L naturally-aspirated four-cylinder engine that makes 120 PS with 152 Nm of torque. Power is then sent to the rear wheels via a 5-speed manual transmission.

With this preview, Foton has a vehicle that could take on the likes of the Suzuki Carry and the Toyota Lite Ace utility vehicles which are already on sale in the country.
