We might not have to wait long for the official launch of the Suzuki Jimny 5-Door in PH

Don't try to adjust your screens or monitors. The 5-door version of the Suzuki Jimny is set to be launched soon in the Philippines.

While the automaker has yet to make any official announcements, someone was able to spot the Jimny 5-Door being transported via a carrier. The Jimny 5-Door was spotted along the STAR Toll Expressway and appeared to have come straight from the Port of Batangas.

Just like the vehicle launched in India earlier this year, the Jimny 5-Door has a longer wheelbase and comes with two additional doors. It also gets redesigned rear quarter panels complete with small window ports on either side.

Despite being longer than the 3-Door version, the soon-to-be-launched 5-Door still measures less than 4 meters in length. In fact, the Jimny 5-Door measures 3985mm long, 1645mm wide, and 1720mm tall. The wheelbase, on the other hand, is 2590mm which is 340mm more than what the 3-Door version has.

Since the Jimny will soon be available with two additional doors, some of you might be expecting it will be able to seat three people in the back. However, its width remains the same which means it will still only be able to accommodate two persons in the back.

No official specifications are available at this time. What we can expect, however, is that the 5-Door version will be powered by the 1.5-liter K15B four-cylinder engine that can also be found in the 3-Door version. It produces 105 PS with 138 Nm of torque and can be mated to either a 5-speed manual gearbox or a 4-speed automatic transmission. And just like the regular version, it will also likely be available with the 4WD AllGrip Pro system that consists of a manual transfer case complete with a low-range gearbox.

Since the Jimny 5-Door is already in the country, we can expect Suzuki to hold its official launch next year. Heck, according to an industry source we talked to earlier this year, Suzuki plans to bring the Jimny 5-Door as early as Q1 of next year. With that, perhaps we might not have to wait long once 2024 rolls around. We'll be keeping our fingers crossed Suzuki will reveal it come January.
