LOOK: 2023 Suzuki Jimny 5-door debuts and we want it
Suzuki Jimny 5-Door to go on sale in May 2023 in India before reaching global markets

Stop what you're doing right now. Suzuki has just unveiled the Jimny 5-Door and boy are we impressed and excited.
First spotted out in the wild by an Instagram user last year, the 2023 Jimny 5-Door officially made its public debut at the Auto Expo 2023 in India. It's set to go on sale in May 2023 in its home market before reaching other global markets.
Beginning with the most obvious first, the Jimny 5-Door, as you guessed it, gets additional doors. It also has a longer wheelbase and a redesigned rear quarter complete with small window ports. Other than that, the signature circular headlights, short overhangs, slatted front grille, and upright pillars have all been carried over from the 3-Door version.

Size-wise, Suzuki was able to keep the Jimny's length under 4 meters as it only measures 3985mm long. It also has a width of 1645mm and a height of 1720mm. The wheelbase, as mentioned earlier, is now 2590mm which is 340mm longer than the 3-Door.
The interior of the Jimny 5-Door remains the same as its 3-Door counterpart. It gets the familiar black dashboard with a center touchscreen media system, console-mounted power window switches, three-dial automatic climate control, and the retro-styled instrument panel complete with a multi-info display. While no pictures of the rear seats were provided, Suzuki also mentioned they installed special rear seats in the Jimny 5-Door.

Under the hood, the 5-Door 4x4 is powered by the same 1.5-liter K15B four-cylinder engine that can be found in the 3-Door version. It makes 105 PS along with 138 Nm of torque. However, the 5-Door's engine has been equipped with the brand's mild-hybrid system dubbed Smart Hybrid which gives the Jimny fuel-saving features. Available transmissions for the Jimny 5-Door include a 5-speed manual and a 4-speed automatic. The 4WD AllGrip Pro system with manual transfer case and low-range gearbox have been carried over as well from the 3-Door.
In terms of safety, the 5-Door comes with 6 airbags, an electronic stability program (ESP), hill-hold assist, hill-descent control, a reverse camera, and anti-lock brakes.
With the Jimny 5-Door set to go on sale first in India come May 2023, it might be a while before this particular 4x4 makes its way to the Philippines. We'll be keeping our fingers crossed that it will only be a short wait before it's actually launched here.
