Lexus PH to launch GX, LM and LBX in 2024

Toyota Motor Philippines has had a busy second half of the year. They've launched four all-new vehicles, and recently they've also introduced updates on existing models such as the Hilux and the Corolla Altis. We reckon there's more in store in the coming months, but over at the Lexus side, things seem to be not quite as hectic.

But during the Lexus Showcase event in Japan, that's where things got a clearer picture: Lexus International President Takashi Watanabe has confirmed Lexus Philippines will start 2024 with the introduction of three all-new vehicles: the LM luxury MPV, the LBX subcompact crossover, and the GX SUV.

Those three vehicles made their Japan market debuts during the event. But in the Philippines, the three models will be launched on separate dates. In fact, Lexus says the all-new LM will arrive by the end of the year and will be offered in both 4 and 7-seat configurations.

As with our previous report regarding TMP receiving government approval for the all-new LM, the luxury MPV will be powered by a 2.5-liter, naturally aspirated inline-four-cylinder engine with Toyota's hybrid system.

On the other hand, the all-new LBX should serve as the stepping stone towards Lexus ownership by 2024, as it's expected to be the most affordable offering of Lexus in their lineup. The LBX shares most of its components with the TNGA Yaris Cross, and will be powered by a 1.5-liter, three-cylinder hybrid.

Last but not the least is the all-new GX SUV. Sharing its platform with the LC300 and the new Land Cruiser Prado, the all-new GX is being marketed as Lexus' premium off-roader with its rugged look and improved 4x4 capabilities.

While Lexus has yet to reveal official powertrain details, their government approval suggests the PH-spec GX is likely to come in the GX550 guise that's powered by a non-hybrid 3.4-liter twin-turbo V6.
