Jetour Auto PH to bring 3 plug-in hybrid models this 2025

With electrified vehicles continuing to become more popular in the country, Jetour Auto Philippines Inc. (JAPI) is set to offer not one, not two, but a total of three plug-in hybrids (PHEVs) this year.

This was confirmed by JAPI Managing Director Miguelito Jose who recently shared that the automaker will focus more on PHEVs. With that, Jose mentioned that they will be bringing the X70 Lightning i-DM, the T2 Lightning i-DM, and the T1 Lightning i-DM.

What can we expect once these PHEVs from Jetour make their way here? Based on what the PRC gets, the PHEVs will come with a turbocharged four-cylinder engine that's assisted by a battery pack and an electric motor.

Beginning with the T2 Lightning i-DM (AKA Shanghai T2 C-DM), it gets an electrified 1.5L turbo inline-four that's paired with either a 26.7 kWh or a 43.24 kWh battery pack. This gives the plug-in hybrid T2 a total system output of 381 PS and 610 Nm of torque.

Depending on the battery pack chosen, the electrified SUV can travel on electric power between 100 to 161 km based on the WLTC cycle. It also benefits from a vehicle-to-load (V2L) system that can power up appliances and other devices.

Next is the T1 Lightning i-DM which slots below the T2. This one also comes with a turbocharged 1.5L engine that's helped by an electric motor and a 26.7 kWh battery pack. The engine alone makes 154 PS and 220 Nm of torque while the electric motor provides an additional 201 PS and 310 Nm of pull.

With a fully charged battery, Jetour claims the T1 Lightning i-DM can do up to 117 km without using a drop of fuel. This one also benefits from a V2L system to provide power to a campsite or worksite.

Last but not least is the X70 Lightning i-DM. It has a 1.5L four-cylinder turbo that makes 156 PS with 220 Nm of torque and is assisted by an electric motor that provides an extra 271 PS and 395 Nm of pull. A 19.34 kWh lithium ternary battery pack gives the X70 an electric range of up to 110 km based on the CLTC cycle. Whereas the T2 and T1 come with a 3-speed dedicated hybrid transmission (DHT), the X70 only comes with a 2-speed DHT.

With Executive Order No. 12 cutting the import duty of hybrids to zero to last until 2028, we won't be surprised if Jetour's upcoming PHEVs will be competitively priced and could also undercut other plug-in hybrids in the market. Let's hope Jetour Auto PH will reveal the plug-in hybrids at this year's Manila International Auto Show (MIAS).
