T2 Junior: Jetour T1 PHEV looks like a Bronco-sized fighter

When Jetour Auto Philippines Inc. (JAPI) officially brought the T2 last year, it quickly became one of the brand's most popular vehicles. With its Defender-like appearance, AWD capability, 2.0L turbo pushing 254 PS with 390 Nm of torque, and countless features, it's no wonder the Jetour T2 is becoming a common sight on the roads.

With boxy crossover SUVs becoming ever-popular with customers, Jetour Auto Philippines could add another boxy offering soon. Over in its home market, Jetour recently revealed the T1 PHEV. Not to be confused with the T2's PRC name, the Jetour T1 is the brand's newest compact crossover SUV that appears to share styling cues with the bigger T2.

From the illuminated grille to the distinct LED lighting signatures on the headlights, as well as the boxy exterior, it's hard not to spot some design similarities of the T1 shared with the T2. But since it's slightly smaller than the T2, the Jetour T1's appearance also appears to have been inspired by the Ford Bronco thanks to the muscular fenders and generous black body cladding.

It doesn't have a rear-mounted spare tire carrier but the 4x4 inspired looks are still present thanks to the high-mounted rear bumper with body cladding, squared LED taillights, and unique tailgate design. In terms of size, the T1 measures 4706mm long, 1967mm wide, 1845mm tall, and has a 2810mm wheelbase. It also has a towing capacity of 1,600 kg and a curb weight of up to 2,000 kg.

Under the hood, the T1 is powered by an electrified 1.5L turbocharged inline-four. It gets a helping hand from an electric motor and a 26.7 kWh lithium iron phosphate battery pack. Exact output figures have yet to be revealed although Jetour did say it has an electric range of 114 km and a full range of around 1,400 km. It will also apparently be offered in both 2WD and 4WD variants.

With PHEVs continuing to grow in popularity, perhaps Jetour might want to bring the T1 PHEV to the Philippines. Since the Dashing i-DM already serves as the brand's initial plug-in hybrid, the T1 PHEV could serve as a more “rugged-looking” alternative.
