GWM PH discontinues Ora 03 but Ora 5 coming soon
Will GWM PH bring the Ora 5 EV or the Ora 5 HEV?

If you happen to be in the market for an electric vehicle (EV) and have been planning to get GWM’s Ora 03 EV, we have some bad news for you.
The automaker recently discontinued the 03 EV for the Philippine market. We were able to confirm this after checking the official website of GWM Philippines. The reason behind the discontinuation of the Ora 03 for the Philippines is pricing challenges for the EV.
With the Ora 03 no longer available, will there be a replacement? Well, based on the info we’ve gathered, it will be succeeded by an all-new vehicle.

Based on import documents from the Bureau of Customs (BOC), GWM Philippines is set to bring the Ora 5. That’s right, the crossover that was recently launched in Thailand at the 2026 Bangkok International Motor Show is reportedly on its way here.
Official specifications and details about the GWM Ora 5 have yet to be revealed. However, we’ve heard rumors that there’s already an application to have the Ora 5 approved by the Department of Energy (DOE). With that, perhaps we can expect the Ora 5 to arrive in the country later this year.
Once it arrives in the country, will the Ora 5 be available as an EV or as a hybrid electric vehicle (HEV)? That’s because last year, GWM launched the Ora 5 EV, which gets similar styling cues to the Ora 03, but is a crossover SUV. It’s powered by a lithium-iron phosphate battery that’s available in two sizes: 63.87 kWh and 83.49 kWh. On a full charge, the former delivers up to 555 km while the latter has up to 705 km of range. The battery then powers a single electric motor that drives the front wheels and puts out 204 PS.

On the other hand, the Ora 5 HEV recently made its regional debut in Southeast Asia at the 47th Bangkok International Motor Show (BIMS). It’s powered by a 1.5L turbocharged engine that’s assisted by an electric motor. This gives the vehicle a combined output of 223 PS and 476 Nm of torque. On a full tank of gas and a fully charged battery, GWM claims the Ora 5 HEV can do more than 1,000 km under ideal conditions.
With the GWM Ora 5 on its way to the Philippines, we’ll be keeping our eyes open for more information about the upcoming vehicle.
