2025 BMW M2 gets more than just silver wheels

BMW has recently started updating their current generation models, including their cars that wear the high-performance M badge. A few weeks ago, the Bavarian automaker introduced an update to the M3 with a power bump and a slight exterior tweak. Now it’s the turn of the smaller, yet equally impressive M2.

Yes, the BMW M2 has received quite a similar treatment as its bigger sibling. Heading the list of updates is the increased power output of its 3.0-liter M TwinPower Turbo engine. From 460 PS, the 2025 M2 now puts out 480 PS. Meanwhile, torque output also increases to 600 Nm for the 8-speed M steptronic gearbox, accessible from 2,650 to 6,130 rpm. The 6-speed manual version has a more modest torque output at 550 Nm.

Together with tweaks to the throttle mapping, the increased power and torque slashes the M2’s 0 to 100 km/h times by 0.1 seconds. The automatic version reaches 100 km/h from a standstill in 3.9 seconds, while the manual does it in 4.1 seconds.

On the outside, the 2025 M2’s most significant change is seen on the wheels. It gets a silver alloy option and is the same wheel available to the recently updated M3 and M4. Aside from that, BMW kept the M2’s bodywork unchanged but increased the color palette options.

The significantly expanded range includes the new Sao Paulo Yellow solid, Fire Red metallic, Portimao Blue metallic, and Skyscraper Grey metallic variants. Plus, the selection of BMW Individual paint finishes for the new BMW M2 now also features Java Green, Voodoo Blue, Grigio Telesto, and Twilight Purple.

Inside, the 2025 model M2 welcomes you with a new flat-bottom steering wheel with a red 12 o’clock center marker for good measure. The standard wheel is finished in leather but customers can opt for Alcantara upholstery in the same design. Other new features include the updated iDrive OS that now comes with digital control for climate functions, as well as new interior trim elements.

Those who want to opt for the M Carbon bucket seats may now do so without availing of the entire M Race Track package.

Production of the 2025 M2 will start by August, and retail sales will follow soon after. As for the Philippine market, hopefully, they get to launch it before the year ends.
