2025 BMW M3 Competition xDrive now making 530 PS

It’s been over three years since BMW launched the current generation M3 and its high-performance wagon equivalent called the M3 Touring. While there was a divided opinion about its front kidney grille, the addition of xDrive all-wheel-drive in the Competition models meant the G80 generation had the fastest-accelerating M3 in its lineup.

Now, it’s even faster for its latest update. BMW has given the all-wheel-drive Competition models an extra 20 PS, driving power figures of the 3.0-liter, inline-six M TwinPower Turbo to 530 PS while giving the same max torque of 650 Nm between 2,750 to 5,730 rpm. It puts the power down on all four wheels via an 8-speed automatic gearbox.

While it still has the same 0 to 100 km/h times as the pre-updated version, the 2025 M3 Competition shows its extra grunt in the 0 to 200 km/h test; clocking in 0.5 seconds faster at 11.8 seconds, and 12.4 seconds for the Touring.

The other updates, meanwhile, are much more subtle than the power hike and can be used as a game of sport the difference. There’s a new LED DRL light signature for the headlights, an outlined M3 badge at the back, and new forged alloy wheels.

Inside, a redesigned steering wheel welcomes the driver along with some new interior trim elements. The infotainment now runs the BMW Operating System 8.5, which is the latest generation of the BMW iDrive that simplifies the controls for the automatic climate system. These updates apply to non-xDrive Competition models and the standard M3.

As for the M4 Competition xDrive, expect BMW to come up with virtually similar updates once they launch it. The 2025 M3 will go on sale by July in other markets. Hopefully, on the other hand, the Philippine market will get it before the year ends.
