MG One now in PH, wants to pick a fight with the likes of the Ford Territory

After giving us a glimpse of their latest crossover just before the holidays last year, SAIC Motor Philippines Inc. has officially revealed the 2024 MG One. The brand's newest compact crossover packs a turbocharged engine, a generously appointed cabin, a stylish exterior, and plenty of safety features.
Beginning with its exterior, the MG One features a sporty body complemented by a pair of sleek LED headlights, a distinct front grille, and muscular wheel arches. It also gets a sloping roofline that gives it a wagon-like shape when viewed from the side. At the rear is a pair of eye-catching LED taillights, a faux skid plate, a tailgate spoiler, and a stylish tailgate. Last but not least, the MG One is available with either 18-inch alloy wheels or bigger 19-inch alloys for the top-of-the-line LUX.

Size-wise, the 2024 MG One measures 4581mm long, 1871mm wide, 1617mm tall, and has a 2670mm wheelbase. Side-by-side with the HS, the MG One is 7mm longer, 5mm narrower, and 47mm shorter in height. As for its wheelbase comparison, the MG One is shorter by 50mm.
Hop inside and the MG One welcomes occupants with a pair of high-definition screens. That's right, both the instrument cluster and touchscreen infotainment system measure 12.3 inches in size. The displays are complemented by a predominantly black interior with neat touches of faux metal accents, gloss black trim pieces, contrast stitching on the leather seats & door panels, and a sleek center console.

Other key features present inside the MG One include push-button start, tilt/telescopic steering column, remote engine start, automatic climate control (dual-zone on the LUX), rear A/C vents, smart keyless entry, split-folding 60:40 rear seats, LED ambient lighting, USB-C & USB-A ports, and Apple CarPlay/Android Auto connectivity.

Under the hood of the MG One is a 1.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine. It makes 170 PS along with 275 Nm of torque and is rated for 95 octane fuel only. Power goes to the front wheels via a CVT. Complementing the engine are four-wheel disc brakes and an electronic power steering system.
When it comes to safety, the MG One has plenty onboard. All variants come with dual front & dual side airbags (dual curtain airbags only for LUX), anti-lock brakes with electronic brakeforce distribution, brake assist, cornering brake control, electronic stability program, hill-hold control, hill-descent control, an electronic parking brake with auto hold, blind-spot warning, and lane departure warning. For extra peace of mind, the MG One also gets a 360-degree camera system, front & rear cameras, and auto door locks.

Available colors for the 2024 MG One are Brighton Blue, Extreme Speed Red, Fizzy Orange, Iron Oxide, Meteorite Black, and Moon White. Pricing for the MG One starts at PHP 1,298,888 for the 1.5 CVT STD while the 1.5 CVT LUX is available for PHP 1,458,888.

However, the automaker is offering special introductory prices for both variants. As a result, the 1.5 CVT STD and 1.5 CVT LUX have a sticker price of PHP 1,223,888 and PHP 1,390,888, respectively.
