Vettel wins, Red Bull claims 2 and 3 at 2015 Hungarian GP

Scuderia Ferrari’s Sebastian Vettel has registered his second win of the season and his 41^st all-time as the German driver finished ahead of the pack during the 2015 Hungarian Grand Prix. Vettel now has as many Grand Prix wins as Ayrton Senna.

As earlier announced, a moment of silence was held in honor of the late Jules Bianchi, who recently passed 9 months after a horrific crash at the 2014 Japanese Grand Prix.

Starting third on the grid, Vettel weaved his way onto the Mercedes duo and took the lead into the first turn. Then, Kimi Raikkonen further enforced Ferrari’s onslaught as the Finn passed Nico Rosberg in turn two to claim second position; demoting Lewis Hamilton to fourth.

However, Ferrari wasn’t able to achieve a 1-2 finish because Raikkonen’s car suffered engine failure which led to the Finn’s retirement. On the other hand, the Red Bull duo wanted to make a statement as they catapulted to seal the second and third place finish.

Finishing behind Vettel was the 21-year-old Daniil Kvyat who posted the best result ever for a Russian driver in F1 Grand Prix racing. The other Red Bull driver, Daniel Ricciardo, clinched his first podium finish of the season despite making contact with Mercedes’ Rosberg during the latter part of the race.

The German driver dedicated his win to Jules Bianchi. "Merci Jules, you will always be in our hearts and we know that sooner or later you would have been part of this team," said Vettel over the team radio as he crossed the finish line.

Toro Rosso’s Max Verstappen finished in fourth, which is currently his career-best finish.  McLaren-Honda’s Fernando Alonso finished in fifth, the best result so far for the Spaniard.

Mercedes’ Hamilton dropped five places as the current leader in the drivers’ standing couldn’t do better than a sixth place finish while Rosberg ended the race in the eight spot.    

Lotus’ Romain Grosjean sits between the Mercedes duo as he finished in seventh while McLaren-Honda’s Jenson Button clinched the ninth position. Rounding up the top ten was Sauber’s Marcus Ericsson.

After the 2015 Hungarian Grand Prix, Hamilton still leads the driver standings with 202 points, followed by Rosberg with 181 and Vettel with 160.
