Fuel Crisis: AAP-sanctioned motorsport events in PH temporarily suspended
Motorsport events in PH sanctioned by AAP suspended after BBM declares state of national energy emergency

Following President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.’s declaration of a state of national energy emergency in the country, the FIA-affiliated national auto club in the Philippines has also put its sanctioned races on hold.
The Automobile Association of the Philippines (AAP) has announced a temporary suspension of organizing permits for all AAP-sanctioned motorsports events in the country.
The national auto club states that, with motorsports being inherently dependent on fuel, it acknowledges its responsibility to support national energy conservation and help keep fuel supplies stable during this crisis.
AAP is also suspending pending and new applications to motorsport event organizers in AAP-sanctioned events for the time being. Among the AAP-sanctioned racing events in the country are the Toyota Gazoo Racing Philippine Cup, as well as some national drag racing, slalom, karting, and rallycross championships.
We reached out to Toyota Motor Philippines regarding the AAP memo and said that they are having internal discussions regarding the situation to decide on what would happen to the TGR Philippine Cup in the coming months. We should expect an official press release from Toyota soon regarding this matter.
It is worth noting, however, that not all motorsport championships and events in the country are sanctioned by the AAP. For those particular events, we expect organizers to come up with their own announcement if they will follow AAP’s decision to temporarily suspend their racing events.
