Upgraded Ferrari 488 Challenge Evo is ready to go racing
Ferrari reveals new 488 Challenge Evo with more aero, handling improvements

Together with the reveal of the Ferrari 488 GT3 Evo racer, the Italian supercar builder has revealed the new face of its Ferrari Challenge series – the 488 Challenge Evo. Built for the company's one-make racing series, it features numerous upgrades all-around compared to its predecessor and makes it look even better than before.

The most significant upgrades Ferrari has made to the 488 Challenge Evo is in the aerodynamics department. Just redesigning the front end alone, Ferrari was able to increase aerodynamic efficiency by 30 percent. This was done by changing out the bumper, splitter, and canards. The large intakes on the bumper also channel more air to cool the brakes. Not to mention, the new design gives it a more aggressive look as well.

Ferrari didn't leave the rear alone though. There's a new bumper with vents behind the wheel arches and engine bay for better airflow and cooling. A new rear wing and diffuser will help it handle better on the race track as well. Overall, the new 488 Challenge Evo has 50 percent more overall downforce than the previous 488 Challenge. Interestingly, Ferrari says downforce can be adjusted independently from the front and rear.
Aside from new the exterior, Ferrari also upgraded the car's handling and performance. These include a tweaked traction control system, selectable anti-lock brakes system, and a fine-tuned electronic differential. New carbon ceramic brakes are also said to be more durable than its predecessor.

Inside, the 488 Challenge Evo is as bare-bones as any other race car. At the same time, it looks similar to its predecessor. However, Ferrari-fans (and those lucky enough to own one), will notice its new steering wheel which was inspired by the FXX-K Evo. There's also a new rear-camera system available as an option, similar to the one used in the 488 GTE.
If you happen to own a 488 Challenge, there's no need to worry about having to buy a new car. Ferrari says the new components introduced on the 488 Challenge Evo can be fitted onto current 488 Challenge race cars.
