The Tuason Racing School (TRS) and Ford Lynx has recently forged a partnership to breed homegrown racing talents. The newly conceptualized Ford Lynx Cup, a production class based one-make race composed of novice drivers will be the first of its kind in the country.
Set to wave the green flag for its maiden race at the Batangas Racing Circuit on July 27, 2003, the TRS-Ford Lynx Cup will be a venue for novice racers to show their skills in racing after undergoing rigorous training under 2-time Karter of the Year and Formula 3 driver JP Tuason.
Competing drivers for the upcoming series will be required to undergo the Basic and Advanced courses of the Tuason Racing School. Classes of which will start on May 31. An enthusiast can be a racecar driver for a weekend, paying only a fraction for a package that includes everything from the car, mechanics, tires, and the likes. "This will give drivers an opportunity to get into motorsports without spending their life savings in one weekend. We will also be able to find good talents that have always been hindered by the pricetag of racing," says JP Tuason.
Ford Motor Company will be providing 8 brand new Ford Lynx's for the Tuason Racing School (TRS) and the TRS-Ford Lynx Cup competition. To further equalize the level of competition, participants will draw the one key of the eight compeiting cars which they will drive for the weekend. Maintaining the focus on honing skills rather than worrying about technical set-up.
"We believe that racing is a discipline that Filipinos can be superior in. And Ford wants to help them reach that goal," says Maricar Parco, Assistant Vice-President for Sales and Marketing of Ford.
The program is also supported by Standard Insurance, Goodyear Tires, Adidas, Red Horse Beer, MTV Philippines, K&N Air Filters, H&R Suspension, C! Magazine, Magic 89.9, The Philippine Star, and Trapik.com with the aim of making the sport of racing more accessible for the Filipinos.
