Toyota Australia has confirmed that they are cooking up a Toyota 86 Pro-Am race series next year.
According to the company, the Toyota 86 Pro-Am race series will feature five selected professional drivers who “will mentor and compete against a larger field of amateur drivers who will qualify to get onto the starting grid.”
Participants will use a modified Toyota 86 and race at selected V8 Supercars events. Moreover, the said race series will be sanctioned by the Confederation of Australian Motor Sport.

Toyota Australia Executive Director of Sales and Marketing Tony Cramb said that the Pro-Am race series is the company's way of supporting Toyota 86 owners in making the transition to circuit racing.
Cramb added that the Toyota 86 Pro-Am race series will present “genuine” racing to a “broad audience.”
“The Toyota 86 Pro-Am series will present genuine, dynamic and entertaining racing to a broad audience, including big crowds at each round and a large audience on free-to-air and pay TV,” Cramb said.
Further details of the Toyota 86 Pro-Am race series will be released in the coming months.
