Test your skills in the second season of Formula 1 ESports

Think you’ve got the skills for Formula 1 sim-racing? Why not try your hand against others around the world in the second season of the Formula 1 ESports Series. For 2018, the season will be split into two parts. The first part will give racers the opportunity to join the official esports driver line-up for the official F1 teams. 

 "It has always been our goal to get the teams involved as soon as possible and we are delighted that they have recognized the potential of the F1 Esports Series at such an early stage. Last year's series was a great success and demonstrated that there is a clear audience and interest in this innovative, exciting form of racing,” said Julian Tan, Head of Digital Growth & F1 Esports at Formula 1.

Beginning April 13, 2018, F1 2017 players on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC will be able to join the first of four qualifying events. The first event will see players taking on Valteri Bottas’ Mercedes in Shanghai going for a podium finish. However, players will have to start in sixth place with only five laps remaining on a wet, but drying track. 

The ten fastest players to complete the challenge will then race against each other in a live-streamed final event. The top three of each platform will then qualify for the Pro Draft. After the four qualifying stages, the Pro Draft will be held where in the top 40 drivers will be elligble for selection by Formula 1 teams for their respective esports teams. 

Players will have the chance to join the Mercedes-AMG Petronas Motorsport, Red Bull Racing, Force India F1 Team, Williams, Renault Sport F1 Team, Haas F1 Team, McLaren, Toro Rosso and Alfa Romeo Sauber F1.

Official esports drivers will then represent their teams in the second half of the season, where they will race in three live events. The results of the events will determine the 2018 F1 ESports Series Teams' and Drivers' World Champions with a prize fund of at least USD 200,000 will be awarded.
