In the most recent Philippine Production Car Championship (PPCC) race held last November 20-21 at the Batangas Racing Circuit saw team Blanco Race Engineering, driving the BRE-Chevrolet Cruze PhTC car, capture 2 podium places on Saturday and 2 wins on Sunday with Cyrille Fontaine as team BRE's driver.
Team Blanco Race Engineering, headed by Mr. Francisco Blanco, celebrated their victory at the end of a very successful weekend which saw BRE surge in the standings of the Philippine Production Car Championship. Team BRE bested a 4-car team of its main opponents and ahead of a total of 14 participants. This puts team BRE-Chevy in the lead, definitely an advantage as the PPCC comes closer to its conclusion on January 2011.
BRE is on its first year competing at the PPCC after only completing the Chevy PHTC Cruze just this year. After two weeks of tuning and modification with the help of BRE's sponsors - A-Toy Bodykits, Fremuff , MJ Autoshop, Dupont, Concept One Wheels, Nitto tires, Motul, Recaro, Momo, Top Gear Philippines, Turbo Large Format Printing, Auto Plus, Remixx clothing, Pogiboy Graphics, Nanotectit, Flying V fuel, Han.d.job Auto Salon, Kaspersky lab, Autoindustriya.com, Hotel Vida Clark, Philippine Auto Club (PAC), Blanco Marketing and Star Fire tires- the Chevrolet Cruze PHTC car was completed and immediately went to the MIAS to unveil and launch the Chevy Motorsports Program (CMP) of TCCCI; a week after to the Trans Sport Show in Mega Mall where it garnered the Best Car Display award.
Another reason why this will truly be unforgettable is because this year was supposed to be an R & D year for the Chevy Cruze PhTC, but after testing, team BRE entered the Cruze into the race where it became a force to be reckoned with.
The BRE Cruze PhTC is a manufacturer-backed race car in the Philippines by The Covenant Car Company Inc. (TCCCI) via the Chevy Motorsports Program (CMP).
"We, Chevrolet Philippines, couldn't have been more proud of Chevy's accomplishments in the racing circuit both international and local. This Victories further reiterates the power and performance of the Chevy Cruze, dominating not just the highway but on the racetrack as well! We look forward to more success for Chevrolet," added Atty Albert Arcilla, Chief Operating Officer and Managing Director of TCCCI.
The wins at the PPCC comes at a time where Chevrolet World Touring Car Championship Team just captured the manufacturer's and driver's titles for the WTCC at the recently concluded race in streets of Macau.
