Stockinger finishes third in 7th round of 2014 Formula Renault 3.5 series
Stockinger climbed his way through the order to have a podium finish

Filipino-Swiss racer Marlon Stockinger finished third in the seventh round of the Formula Renault 3.5 series at the Nurburgring track in Germany yesterday.
Stockinger finished behind his teammate Matthieu Vaxiviere who took second place and Roberto Merhiof Zeta Corse claimed the winning trophy.
When the race started, Lotus' Stockinger was not among the leaders. He simply seized the opportunity to overtake and improve his position to third place after the retirement of six drivers during the opening lap.
Oscar Tunjo of Pons Racing clipped Oliver Rowland of Fortec Motosports that forced them to retire the race along with championship leader Carlos Sainz.
AVF’s Beitske Visser, Strakka Racing’s Matias Laine and Pons Racing’s Meindert van Burren were also forced to retire.
Merhi retained his lead after the safety car period while Vaxiviere and Stockinger did all their best to challenge for the lead. During the race, Vaxiviere was able to narrow the gap, but Merhi pushed harder to record his second win of the season.

“The team gave me an excellent car this weekend. We could always run in the top five. Unfortunately, I couldn’t exploit the DRS to its full potential,” said Stockinger.
With the 2-3 podium finish, Stockinger says that the Lotus team are progressing.
“We both finished in the points. We are progressing, and I hope that it will continue after the summer break,” Stockinger added.
Stockinger will be in town next month for the 2014 Lotus Roadshow at the Bonifacio Global City where the Filipino-Swiss driver will be parading his Formula Renault 3.5 car around selected areas around the area.
