Spoiler alert: This 1600 HP wing has a Nissan GT-R attached to it
Nissan GT-R gets more power, big wings for hillclimb racing

When building a competitive hillclimb car, you need aero and power – a lot of it. Just take a look at the iconic Suzuki Escudo Pikes Peak for example. Thankfully this Nissan GT-R has both power and aero, and it is ready to take on hillclimb races all over the world.

Built by Franco Scribante Racing, this monster R35 is possibly one of the wildest GT-Rs ever made. The GT-R’s front end is almost unrecognizable as it is now composed of a massive spoiler and a really aggressive splitter. At the back, there’s an even bigger spoiler featuring a three-plane design combined with a massive diffuser. The team didn’t share technical details such as downforce produced, but surely the extreme aero setup will keep the car glued to whatever road they bring it to. Putting the GT-R on a carbon fiber diet also helps it go faster.

Aside from the insane aero, the GT-R will also be putting down a lot of power. The team claims that the heavily modified VR38 engine is capable of producing a maximum of 2,200 horsepower. However, for the hillclimb setup, the car has been re-tuned to push 1,600 horsepower to the wheels. Like the aero setup, the team did not disclose what modifications were made to the twin-turbo V6 to get it to its current power level. Other modifications seen in the photos include a pushrod suspension setup and a stripped out interior.

Franco Scribante Racing worked together with Dodson Motorsports help build the car. The two went to Pikes Peak last year in order to learn what they needed to make the GT-R competitive. Due to a delay, the team has been putting in the extra hours to make the car ready for its hillclimb debut next month at the South African hillclimb in Knysna. No details were mentioned where they will take the car after, but it's safe to assume that Pikes Peak is certainly on their mind.
