SEMA 2016: Toyota reveals 86 CS-Cup Racer

Toyota Motor Corporation has recently unveiled the 86 CS-Cup Racer at this year's Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) Show in Las Vegas.

The CS-Cup, based on the recently updated 2017 86, was first stripped down in the pursuit of lightness. It is then equipped with a full roll cage in order to comply to the Federation Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA) regulations. Through this, Toyota claims that they were able to lessen the weight of the car from about 1125 to 1270 kg to only 953 kg.

The CS-Cup sports a distinct red and white scheme which pays homage to the TS020 Le Mans car. Behind the front wheels, the car is equipped with four-piston racing calipers. Meanwhile, the rear brakes retain the one-piston calipers.

It is also fitted with PFC brake pads, along with stainless-steel brake line and a special brake-cooling system. The 86 CS-Cup rides on 8.0-by-17-inch O-Z Racing wheels, which are connected to two-way adjustable Bilstein shocks, Eibach springs, as well as Eibach sway bars. As for powertrain upgrades, the race-ready car gains a TMG exhaust system that uses two FIA Motorsport catalyzers and a remapped boxer engine. Adding downforce are a pair of new side skirts, front splitter, and a large rear wing.
