SEMA 2014 Preview: 2015 Toyota Tundra TRD Pro Desert Race Truck revealed
The 2015 Tundra TRD Pro Desert race truck is set to compete at the 47th Tecate Score Baja 1000 in Ensenada, Mexico
Toyota has revealed the 2015 Tundra TRD Pro Desert Race Truck ahead of its debut at the 2014 Specialty Market Equipment Association (SEMA) show in Las Vegas next month.
Set to compete in the full size stock class of the 47th Tecate Score Baja 1000 from November 12 to 16, the Desert race version is based on the 2015 Tundra TRD Pro CrewMax and features a number of modification that includes a TRD-tuned Bilstein shocks, high performance brakes, HID headlights, 17-inch forged alloy wheels and 37-inch BFG Baja T/A KR tires.
The 2015 Tundra TRD Pro Desert Race Truck also has auxilliary lights, chromoly tube roll cage and custom fuel cell. Moreover, the truck is fitted with TRD parts as ssen on the front grill and embossed bed.
Inside, the 2015 Tundra TRD Pro Desert Race Truck has Mastercraft racing seats, seat harness and window nets. It also has two Lowrance navigation systems, a Kenwood race radio, and an intercom.
Toyota has yet to release the powertrain details of the 2015 Tundra TRD Pro Desert Race Truck.
The 2015 Tundra TRD Pro Desert Race Truck will be driven by Ted Moncure, Andy Bell, Jamie Bestwick and Ryan Millen. Toyota Trucks Chief Engineer Mike Sweers and Toyota Production Engineer Samantha Stone will serve as navigators. The whole team will be coached by Ivan "Ironman" Stewart.
Toyota will also display the 2015 TRD 4Runner, the 2015 TRD Tacoma and the 2015 TRD Tundra which will serve as the support vehicles of the 2015 Tundra TRD Pro Desert Race Truck during the Baja 1000 in Mexico.
