SEMA 2014: Dodge unleashes 2015 Charger R/T Funny Car
The 2015 Dodge Charger R/T Funny Car has a new composite body, improved visibility and lessened wear and tear

Dodge, along with Mopar, recently took the wraps off of the 2015 Dodge Charger R/T Funny Car at the 2014 SEMA Show. It will make its on-track debut at the National Hot Rod Association (NHRA) Mello Yello Drag Racing Series under the Funny Car category on February 5 – 9, 2015 at the Auto Club Raceway in Pomona, California. It was jointly developed with Don Schumacher Racing (DSR) and was designed on a virtual platform where it used the same production-based technology and tools applied to street vehicles.

It has a new one-piece body that is crafted out of composite materials such as Kevlar and carbon fiber. In order for the car to resemble the production version, the designers integrated the Charger's original scalloped sides onto the body instead of using vinyl stickers to recreate the desired look. Sight-line for the driver has also been improved for the new Funny Car by way of moving the windshield and greenhouse area further back. Visibility is critical for drag cars according to Dodge since Funny Cars can achieve speeds of over 482 km/h.
Dodge and Mopar did not reveal what engine will it be using nor stated any performance figures but they did state that they have minimized the wear and tear on the car by providing better clearance for the injectors and blowers along with an improved engine.

“We’re very pleased to further demonstrate Mopar’s commitment to providing quality performance parts and reiterate our dedication to NHRA drag racing and our Mopar fans with the introduction of this new 2015 Mopar Dodge Charger R/T Funny Car,” said Pietro Gorlier, President and CEO of Mopar Service, Parts and Customer Care.
