See and HEAR Porsche's rally-spec Cayman GT4 Clubsport in action
Porsche raced the Cayman GT4 Clubsport Rally concept through Rallye Deutschland

While several enthusiasts have taken the odd 911 out rallying over the years, the folks from Stuttgart themselves rarely dabble in dirt and gravel. Since the 911 safaris and development of the 959 for Group B during the 80’s, Porsche has hardly made any effort to bring some of their current models towards a rally stage – until now. Playing as a special guest to ‘gauge interest’ with potential clients, Porsche entered their Cayman GT4 Clubsport Rally Concept as a course car for this year’s Rallye Deutschland.
When we say ‘entered’ Rallye Deutschland, we don’t mean Porsche introducing the Cayman GT4 through a still display at parc ferme. No, the Cayman GT4 Clubsport Rally Concept was actually taken through its paces by Pikes Peak record holder Romain Dumas as it performed course car duties throughout the event.
Much unlike other concept cars, this particular concept has a lot of bark in it (so turn your speakers up and enjoy). And if those airborne photos are anything to go by, it looks like Porsche is serious about showcasing the Cayman’s potential as a rally car platform.

Since it’s based off the Cayman GT4 Clubsport, we can expect that the rally concept shares some key details with its performance-oriented base. The cage, while only taking up the rear half on the standard Clubsport, now extends towards the front and dash to meet safety regulations for rallying. It appears also that the rest of the dash has been altered to accommodate the new meters required out of a modern racing vehicle. A hydraulic e-brake also finds its way into the cabin for those tight 180-degree spins.

Much as we’ve seen the Cayman GT4 Clubsport Rally Concept in action, it still remains to be seen if Porsche will actually produce this variant of the Cayman. If they do however, that can only mean good things for rallyists and spectators alike.
