Scion to take on 2015 Pikes Peak Hill Climb with modified FR-S
Scion set to climb up Pikes Peak for the 5th time with tuned FR-S

Scion has just announced that they will be competing in this year's Pikes Peak International Hill Climb (PPIHC) event with a tuned FR-S courtesy of Mackin Industries under the Time Attack Division 1.
The modified Scion FR-S will be driven Robert Walker who previously tackled the Pikes Peak Hill Climb event back in 2012 with an Evasive Motorsports FR-S.
“This will be my third race at Pikes Peak. Experience is especially important at an event like this. We only drive the road at speed in its entirety once each year – on race day. That can be intimidating to any driver. I’m counting on the experience the team and I have gained to give me a heads-up in the competition,” said Walker.
Exact power output of the FR-S was not revealed but Scion stated that the car benefits from an array of modifications which will help it perform efficiently at high altitude. The modifications done on the race car include: a large turbocharger, improved engine/drivetrain cooling, custom ECU, an E85 fuel delivery system, weight reduction and an aerodynamic bodykit.
This will be the 5th time that the automaker will take part in the hill climb event as the company was able to land a podium in the Time Attack Division 1 with renowned drifter Ken Gushi behind the wheel last year.
“Scion Racing is proud to partner with Mackin Industries and Robert Walker to tackle the unique challenge that is the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb. We believe it’s a perfect venue to validate the strong performance characteristics of the FR-S, under perhaps the most extreme conditions in motorsports,” said Landy Joe, Scion Auto Shows and Special Events Manager.
