Say goodbye to grid girls in Formula 1 this year
Bid farewell to grid girls as Formula 1 will stop the practice starting this 2018 season

For those who have been following Formula 1 for awhile, they would know that grid girls have always been a part of the scene. In fact, one could say that they are already a tradition Formula 1 as they have been around for decades. However, the practice of having grid girls will soon come to an end as the organizers have decided to stop bringing in walk-on grid girls starting this 2018 season.
The news of this was announced by Formula 1 managing director of motorsport Ross Brawn. He believes that the practice of having grid girls is no longer appropriate in today's more modern views across the world. Stopping the practice would also allow them to update Formula 1 in line with their vision.
"While the practice of employing grid girls has been a staple of Formula 1 Grands Prix for decades, we feel this custom does not resonate with our brand values and clearly is at odds with modern day societal norms. We don’t believe the practice is appropriate or relevant to Formula 1 and its fans, old and new, across the world,” said Brawn.
Apart from Formula 1, the Brawn and his group has also announced that the changes will apply to other motorsport series that take place during the Grand Prix weekends.
The new season of Formula 1 will begin on March 25 with the Australian Grand Prix in Melbourne.
