Sauber F1 names Mark Smith as new technical director
Caterham's former technical director joins Sauber F1 team

Sauber Formula One (F1) team has appointed Mark Smith as their new technical director.
The 54-year-old Briton has a long history in F1. Smith has been technical director for teams like Jordan, Red Bull, Force India and most recently at Caterham. He was also Renault’s chief designer from 2000 to 2005.
Smith said in a statement that Sauber F1 team has potential to be competitive in Formula One.

"The potential of Sauber is enormous. The factory has all the requirements to be competitive," said Smith.
Sauber F1 team adds that Smith would “take responsibility overlapping tasks, as well as leaving members of the technical committee the space to fully focus on their working areas.”
Mark Smith will start on July 13, 2015 at the Sauber F1 team headquarters in Hinwil, Switzerland.
