Sabine Schmitz will race for Munnich Motorsport at Nurburgring on May 16, 2015

Sabine Schmitz is set to make her FIA World Touring Car Championship (WTCC) debut at the Nürburgring Nordschleife on May 16, 2015.
Schmitz is going to drive a Chevrolet Cruze TC1 for Münnich Motorsport and will take on 19 male drivers. She will drive alongside Münnich Motorsport's regular driver Stefano D'Aste.
The 45 year old female driver is a no strager at the most demanding racetrack on the planet due to her vast experience which includes winning the Nürburgring 24 Hours with the Porsche factory team as well as driving in the SP9 class of the 2014 VLN endurance championship.
Schmitz also began a high-speed “taxi” service to show visitors on how fast lap should be done. With this, Schmitz would typically complete more than 30,000 laps of the track each year.
WTCC General Manager François Ribeiro said that they are thrilled to have Schmitz as part of the WTCC family.
“We are thrilled to welcome a great talent and personality like Sabine Schmitz to the WTCC family and we can’t wait to watch her at the wheel of a new-generation TC1 World Touring Car on the world’s toughest race circuit against the best touring car drivers,” Ribeiro said.
Schmitz expressed that she is happy to have the opportunity to join the WTCC.
“I am really happy that I have the opportunity to take part in the WTCC. In my eyes it is the best racing series we have. I will stay realistic with my goals for the races,” Schmitz said.
