Renaultsport R.S. 01 debuts with 507 PS GT-R engine
New R.S. 01 race car is an expression of the brand's sporting DNA; one-make Renaultsport Trophy championship next year.

After a series of teasers, Renault finally unveiled the official photos of the R.S. 01 race car to debut in a one-make Renaultsport Trophy championship next year. The automaker says the R.S. 01 is an expression of the brand's sporting DNA and designed under the management of Laurens van den Acker.
The body of the R.S. 01 is designed with a carbon monocoque that reduces the vehicle's weight to less than 1,100 kg. The front design of the R.S. 01 displays the brand's logo along with LED daytime running lights positioned at the vehicle's air intake. The grill of the vehicle is desgined to provide ample air passage that is then expelled through the extractors positioned on the hood.
Renault says the front bumper of the R.S. 01 is incorporated with two fins to limit the turbelence of the rotating wheels. The R.S. 01 is alo fitted with a large blade at the lower splitter to contribute to the vehicle's aerodynamics.

The rear of the R.S. 01 has an adjustable fin which extracts the air flow sweeping under the flat bottom. The diffuser of the vehicle is topped by a twin exhaust and the LED lights complimets the overall rear design of the R.S. 01.
Inside, the R.S. 01 features a steel roll cage and a crash box that absorbs energy in the event of frontal impact. It also has a collapsible steering column and a Sabelt bucket seats with a six-point harness.
The R.S. 01 is powered by a 3.8-liter V6 twin-turbo engine that is derived from the Nissan GT-R. It can generate an output of 507 PS with 600 Nm of torque. Power is mated to a seven-speed sequential gearbox and has a top speed of over 300 km/h.
