Porsche's 2023 Le Mans hypercar looks wild
Porsche wants to beat Toyota at 2023 24 Hour of Le Mans with new hypercar

It's no secret Porsche wants to win the Le Mans 24 Hours Endurance race once again. The German marque is set to make its comeback to the sport in the 2023 season, and now they're ready to share the first images of their upcoming Le Mans' challenger for the new Hypercar class. Based on what we're seeing, it looks like Toyota will have to step up their game come 2023.

Porsche has yet to reveal their new Le Mans hypercar in full. The automaker did not even say the official name of the model yet, and the teaser images still show the vehicle covered in camouflage. One thing we can say is that it looks wild; it even makes their previous LMP1 challenger, the 919 Hybrid, look tame in comparison. There are no technical specifications yet, but we expect the race-spec Porsche to be quick around the Circuit de la Sarthe.

The automaker will be fielding their upcoming race car under the LMDh class in the Hypercar tier, and it will be built in collaboration with Penske. For reference, there are two separate classes – LMH and LMDh. LMH are cars built specifically under the Le Mans Hypercar technical regulation and are based on a road car. These cars can also have a hybrid system powering all four wheels. Meanwhile, the LMDh class that Porsche's competing in requires entrants to purchase race car chassis from an approved list of suppliers.

“We are working all-out with our partner Penske on the development of the new LMDh prototype and collaborate closely with the chassis manufacturer Multimatic at all times. In January, we will begin intensive testing to ensure that we are optimally prepared for our 2023 competition debut,” explains Thomas Laudenbach, head of Porsche Motorsport.
We can't wait to see Porsche competing in the 24 Hours of Le Mans once again, going up against Toyota. But for now, these teaser images will have to do.
