Petron Corporation is now the official fuel provider for the 2016 Philippine Leg Formula 4 South East Asia (F4/SEA) Championship on October 15-16 at the Clark International Speedway in Pampanga.
“We are honored to be a part of the Formula 4 South East Asia championship, and we hope that the drivers will appreciate the power and other benefits of locally-manufactured and formulated Petron fuels,” said Ramon S. Ang, Petron Corporation President and CEO and self-confessed avid motorsports enthusiast.
Promoted by the Asian Autosport Action (AAA) led by Peter Thompson, F4/SEA, Petron adds that it offers a cost-effective first step to an FIA-certified career ladder in formula racing.
With the program focusing on driver experience and development, they aim to ensure a level playing field in a one-make FIA single-operator championship through FIA-F4 homologated race cars and engines. All participating drivers are given access to both race and engine data. They are also trained to learn from race engineers and coaches which makes winning based on the race craft and not through performance aids. Malaysian motor racing team, Meritus.GP also provides race engineering services supported by race engineers, winning driver coaches, as well as professional technicians and mechanics.
The 2016 F4/SEA started last August with the first event at the Sepang circuit in Malaysia. The second event in the series, on the other hand, is to be held in the Philippines consisting of six races.
Drivers are expected to start both testing and coaching from October 13 to 14 since the official events start on October 15, before concluding on October 16. The subsequent rounds will to be held in Indonesia on November 11-13, Malaysia on December 9-11, Thailand on January 6-8, 2017, and concluding in Malaysia on January 20-22, 2017.
