Official sketches preview 2016 BMW M6 GT3
After years of racing with the Z4 GT3, BMW will replace it with the M6 GT3

BMW recently released sketches and minor details of the M6 GT3 that is set to compete in the 2016 season. It will replace the Z4 GT3 race car which the company will retire next year and according to BMW Motorsport Director Jens Marquardt, the M6 GT3's properties will supersede the soon-to-retire car.
“The BMW Z4 GT3 has enjoyed success around the world in recent years, and is very popular among our customers. We obviously want to follow on from this success with the BMW M6 GT3. After all, the target we have set ourselves is to provide our customers with the best possible material. We also want to demonstrate the high product substance of BMW M cars in motorsport with the BMW M6 GT3,” added Marquardt.

The M6 will be based off the Coupe model and will have BMW's M Motorsport signature livery. It has an altered hood design, a bodykit, larger wheels and tires and a spoiler mounted on the trunk. No exact specifications were given by BMW but the car will utilize the 4.4-liter M Twin Power Turbo V8 engine. The powerplant is familiar from the production model apart from slight modifications while the chassis is being optimized by hand for racing specifications. Technical features that are to be equipped for the M6 GT3 include a racing gearbox, racing ABS and racing electronics.
The car will be available for ordering next year while deliveries of the finished product will arrive around the end of 2015.
