Nissan wins their first race in Formula E
Nissan secures first Formula E victory at New York, clinches third place in overall standings

It was only in December last year when Nissan officially made their Formula E debut. Now, barely a year later, and the Japanese automaker has scored their first victory in the all-electric series. At the recently concluded New York E-Prix, Nissan e.dams driver Sebastian Buemi crossed the chequered flag nearly a second ahead of Jaguar Racing driver Mitch Evans, securing the automaker’s first ever win in Formula E.

"We've had pole positions, we've had podiums but to finally get the win and have Nissan on the top step of the podium is something I don't think I'll forget for the rest of my life. The team has put in the work, and they really deserve this. Everyone at Nissan, e.dams, and NISMO have put in such an amazing effort, and we're thrilled," said Nissan global motorsport director, Michael Carcamo.
The win comes after Nissan’s fourth consecutive podium in the series and the third consecutive podium for Buemi who finished second in Berlin, Germany and third in Bern, Switzerland. Interestingly, Nissan also becomes the ninth different team to win in this season.

Because of Buemi’s victory, the Nissan e.dams team has moved up to third place in the team’s championship points. Meanwhile, Buemi is now currently situated in fourth position in the driver’s title. With only one race left, Buemi still has a chance to win driver’s championship title. But, he would have to earn pole position, take the win, and hope the three rivals ahead of him fail to score in the final round.
The last round of the season five Formula E Championship will be raced in the Brooklyn street circuit on July 14. Will Buemi and Nissan be able to move up from their current position? We'll just have to wait and see.
