Nissan takes full control of Formula E team
Nissan acquires e.dams, the most successful team in Formula E

Nissan has sealed its long-term participation in the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship by taking full ownership of the e.dams racing team.
The Le Mans-based team was established in 2014 by Jean-Paul Driot, founder of DAMS. Formerly known as Renault e.dams, the outfit claimed three teams' titles as well as one drivers' title with Sebastien Buemi in the 2015/16 season.
E.dams then entered a partnership with Nissan in 2018 and raced together as the Nissan e.dams Formula E team. To date, the outfit remains the only Japanese manufacturer to enter the series and is also the most successful team in Formula E.

With this acquisition, a new management structure has been put into place with immediate effect. Tommaso Volpe, general manager of Nissan Formula E, has also taken managing director duties at e.dams.
“The acquisition of the e.dams team not only reconfirms our long-term commitment to Formula E, but also to the exciting, high-performance world of motorsports competition as a whole. But we don’t only love to compete. We’re also passionate about delivering innovative and exciting driving experiences while demonstrating our commitment to zero-emission and sustainable solutions. This acquisition will further empower us in the strategic electrification objectives of our business.” said Ashwani Gupta, Nissan's Chief Operating Officer.
The all-electric championship serves as Nissan's testbed for its electrification and sustainability plans for the future, as the Japanese automaker aims to bring its expertise in transferring knowledge and technology between the Formula E racetrack and road for better electric vehicles for customers.
