Chevrolet's winning streak came to an end after eleven consecutive victories courtesy of Franz Engstler in Germany. BMW's Franz Engstler claimed their first win of the season; it was the first for the new 1.6 liter turbo engine built in Munich and also the first ever in WTCC for the German driver.
Race 1 gave Chevrolet another 1-2 finish, with Yvan Muller won the race, followed by Robert Huff in second and Gabriele Tarquini in third place. Robert Dahlgren qualified first for Race 1 followed by Muller in second. BMW's Franz Engstler who qualified 9th place won Race 2 followed by Chevrolet's Alain Menu in second, while Sunred‘s Gabriele Tarquini came in third. Yvan Muller who qualified first for Race 2 finished 5th place, Volvo's Robert Dahlgren qualified 2nd and Chevrolet's Robert Huff qualified 3rd.
Robert Huff is leading in championship points, while teammate and defending champion Yvan Muller is behind with only six points. The championship will resume after the summer break at Valencia, Spain, on September 3rd for rounds 17 and 18.
