Mitsubishi Motors Corporation (MMC) unveiled the MiEV Evolution III which it will campaign in the 2014 Pikes Peak International Hill Climb.
MMC will enter two MiEV Evolution III all-electric racecars in the 2014 Pikes Peak International Hill Climb that will be on June 23 to 29 in Colorado, United States.
The Japanese automaker says the two MiEV Evolution III combines the best of MMC’s electric vehicle and four-wheel drive control technologies.
Basically, MMC says that the MiEV Evolution III racecar is an improved and evolved version of the MiEV Evolution II.
The main components of the MiEV Evolution III include the high-capacity battery, high-output electric motor and electric powered 4WD consisting of four electric motors.
MMC says to reduce weight in the pipe-frame chassis some structural materials have been replaced.
The new carbon cowl design and the wind-tunnel optimization of the spoiler has increased the downforce of the vehicle.
MMC also improved the S-AWC integrated vehicle dynamics control system to have better traction control and to reduce wheel slip by controlling the vehicle attitude more precise.
It is powered by four electric motors that generates a combined output of 612 PS. A 50 kWh battery is also fitted to the vehicle to ensure that it can stand to take on the grueling course.
The two Mitsubishi MiEV Evolution III will be driven by Hiroshi Masuoka and Greg Tracy. MMC has competed twice in the Electric Division in 2012 and 2013. Now with the MiEV Evolution III they hope to have their first victory.
