Mick Schumacher to drive father's race-winning Benneton at Spa
Mick Schumacher to drive his father's championship-winning Benetton this weekend at Spa

It's been 25 years since Michael Schumacher got his first win in Formula 1. The seven-time champion drove a Benetton to his first career victory in Spa back in 1992. To commemorate this milestone, Mick Schumacher will be driving one of the Formula 1 race cars where the elder Schumacher won his first race.
As confirmed by family spokesperson Sabine Khem, Mick Schumacher will be driving one of the Benetton race cars this weekend. However, Mick Schumacher will not be driving the race-winning 1992 car. Instead, he will be running the 1994 car which his father drove to his first championship. Michael Schumacher would win another title with Benetton in 1995 before winning five more with Ferrari.

Born in 1999, Mick Schumacher followed in his father's footsteps and started racing professionally at 9 years old. Since then, the younger Schumacher has had success in Formula 4 with 11 wins under his belt. Mick Schumacher has since moved up to Formula 3 with Prema Powerteam, the team behind his success in Formula 4.
Michael Schumacher retired from Formula 1 in 2006 but returned to the sport in 2010 with Mercedes GP. He hung the helmet for the second time in 2012. He wrapped up his Formula 1 career with 155 podium finishes, 91 wins, 68 pole positions and 7 championships. The following year, Michael Schumacher suffered massive injuries during a skiing accident and has been in private care ever since.
