Michael Schumacher will finally have his own Netflix documentary

Ayrton Senna, Bruce McLaren, Frank Williams, Niki Lauda, and James Hunt.

These are just some of the Formula 1 drivers that made it to the screen, telling their story in the most prestigious racing series in the world. However, there is one driver that has yet to have a film even though he is considered by most as the greatest in F1 – Michael Schumacher.

That will all change very soon.

A Netflix film about Michael Schumacher is coming to Netflix on September 15. While there have been several documentaries about Schumacher in the past, this upcoming film is the first one supported by his family.

Details about the Schumacher film on Netflix are still scarce. Netflix has not released a trailer either. The only thing we know so far is the title – SCHUMACHER. The announcement did say it will give us a unique view and insight into the life of the seven-time Formula 1 world champion. With that, expect it to be a more documentary style rather than a full production film like Rush.

Apart from his seven championship wins, Schumacher amassed a total of 91 wins, 155 podium finishes, 68 pole position starts, and 77 fastest laps throughout his career in Formula 1 with Benetton F1, Ferrari and even a comeback with Mercedes. There are many reasons why a lot still consider him the GOAT of F1 even though many of his records are being matched or even broken by current world champion Lewis Hamilton.

Schumacher's career spanned from 1991 to 2006 before making a comeback in 2010 and retiring for good in 2012. That retirement wasn't what the world expected, though, as Schumacher sustained heavy brain injuries in a skiing accident. That incident made retirement a battle for his life.

Today, his son Mick Schumacher is currently competing in F1 driving for Haas.
