Mercedes-Benz GP considers entry into Formula E
Mercedes-Benz GP signs option agreement, may join Formula E by fifth season

Mercedes-Benz GP has recently signed an option agreement with Formula E Operations Ltd which allows Mercedes to enter the all-electric open wheel series by the fifth season.
“We have been watching the growth of Formula E with great interest. At the current time, we are looking at all the options available in the future of motor racing, and we are very pleased with an agreement that secures us an opportunity to enter the series in Season 5. Electrification will play a major role in the future of the automotive industry. ,” Toto Wolff, Executive director of Mercedes AMG Petronas F1 Team.
At the moment currently have ten teams and a format of two cars per driver. However, the FIA decided to expand the participating teams to twelve and a single car per driver for the entire event. With the signed agreement, Mercedes is given the liberty to be one of the two new entries that will be allocated, subject to approval of the FIA.
“We are delighted to confirm that we have reserved one of our two new entries in Season 5 for MGP. Having the chance to include in the future a brand like Mercedes our Championship would be a major boost to achieve that objective. ,” Alejandro Agag, Chairman of Addax Capital LLP.
If Mercedes-Benz confirms their participation in Formula E, the German automaker will be the sixth major car manufacturer to join the series. Manufacturers running the next season of Formula E include Audi, DS (Citroen), Jaguar, Mahindra, Renault, and just recently, BMW.
