Mercedes-AMG reveals new GT4 racecar
Track-ready Mercedes-AMG GT4 based off the road-going 585 horsepower GT R

Mercedes-AMG continues to release more race-prepped GT cars. Their latest racecar comes in the form of the all-new GT4 which was recently previewed by the company to customer teams and drivers.
In making the all-new racecar, Mercedes-AMG based the GT4 from the highly-tuned GT R. For Mercedes-AMG, the GT R's lightness and high output motor will make the difference against other GT4 competitors. They even added that it will feature ergonomic controls and excellent levels of safety.
In terms of design, the front end of the GT4 bears some resemblance with the production GT R. It gets the same Panamericana front grill, large air intakes and sleek headlights. New parts like the vented hood, bigger side vents and lighter alloy wheels also make their way in the GT4.
Dominating the rear is a large GT wing that will deliver better downforce for the GT4. The stock rear diffuser, centrally-mounted exhaust and slim taillights have been carried over from the GT R however.

Powertrain details were not provided but it is highly likely the GT4 will still be utilizing the uprated 4.0-liter biturbo V8. In production form, the engine produces 585 PS and 699 Nm of torque. Power is then sent to the rear wheels via a 7-speed dual clutch gearbox. There is no word if Mercedes-AMG will further tune the V8 to crank out more power.
“The development of the Mercedes-AMG GT4 is another important step in the continuing expansion of our Mercedes-AMG motorsport programme. The excellent feedback of our Customer Sports teams concerning the AMG GT3 and the increasing interest for GT4 race cars strengthened us in our decision,” said Tobias Moers, Chairman of the Management Board of Mercedes-AMG GmbH.
Mercedes-AMG has yet to annouce when will they officially launch the GT4.
