Following in tow were his teammate Rob Huff; Colin Turkington of Wiechers-Sport and Norbert Michelisz of Zengo Dension, both in BMWs.
But the main story of the race was not about Menu, but instead Irish driver Turkington who drove his BMW hard and relentlessly stayed with the frontrunners. After almost ten laps of battling, Turkington a daring maneuver to overtake Huff on the 13th and goes on to challenge race leader Menu giving him a run for his money. The race ended with Menu winning by a slight margin over Turkington with Huff following in third not too far behind to. Huff's podium finish cut Muller's championship lead back down to 10 points.
In Round 22, a good start by Gabriele Tarquini finds him jumping ahead with an early lead over Huff and Turkington. Not too far behind was a big incident involving Michelisz, Javier Villa, Tiago Monteiro, Daryl O'Young and Michel Nykjaer. Nykjaer would manage to rejoin the race as the four other drivers made early retirements.
A heated battle was ensuing between Tarquini and Huff and eventually ends up with a slight contact. Muller, who was quickly coming up the order manages to slip past Huff and Turkington in the process, moving himself up to second on the first lap. Huff manages to recover and get third from Turkington on the next lap. By the fourth lap, Muller would find himself in the lead as he overtakes Tarquini. He keeps going and doesn't look back as he extends his gap. Tarquini meanwhile, finds himself in good company with Huff, Turkington, Coronel and Menu chasing him.
A daring maneuver by Turkington on Huff ended costly as he dropped down the order behind Coronel and Menu. He manages to recover a position overtaking menu on the 19th. Going towards the end, Coronel would close the gap between him and Huff. The last lap would find the two colliding with Coronel losing dearly as Turkington gets his fourth position back.
