Malaysia says goodbye to Formula 1 this 2017

Following 19 years of hosting Formula 1 at the Sepang International Circuit, Malaysia bids farewell to Formula 1 as this year would mark its last season on the F1 calendar. The decision stems jointly by both Formula 1 and Sepang International Circuit. With this being the last time Formula 1 cars will race in Malaysia, the two are determined to make this year's event in October a fitting finale.

“It’s always sad to say goodbye to a member of the Formula 1 family. Over nearly two decades, the Malaysian Formula 1 fans have proven themselves to be some of the sport’s most passionate supporters," said Sean Bratches, managing director, Commercial Operations, Formula 1

On the flipside, Bratches added that they have big plans to bring their global fan base closer to the sport. They plan on doing this by providing an enhanced digital experience and creating new events.

"We’re looking forward to talking more about these plans as the season progresses,” added Bratches.

During its time on the Formula 1 calendar, there are countless, memorable incidents that have happened during the Malaysian Grand Prix. As the 2017 Malaysian Grand Prix will be held on October, expect the best that could be from Malaysia's final Formula 1 Grand Prix.

“We will have 21 exciting events to look forward to in the 2018 calendar, with the additions of the French and German races. I’d like to take this opportunity to thank the Sepang International Circuit for their hospitality and professionalism over the years, and their ongoing commitment to motorsport," said Bratches.
