Lexus has announced that it will be campaigning with the new LF-CC based car for the 2014 Super GT series. The new racecar based on the two-door concept will replace the SC 430 which the Japanese luxury brand has been fielding since 2006. Lexus continued to use the SC 430 body even after the model’s retirement in 2010.
The new LF-CC racecar is expected to be powered by a new 2-liter turbocharged engine with a hybrid system to replace the current 3UZ-FE V8 under the hood of the SC 430. The 3UZ-FE base engine has been in use since the Toyota Supra’s stint in Super GT.
The car is based on a unified chassis shared with the DTM series that was developed by a European motorsport group based in Germany and Italy. The new chassis is composed of a carbon-fiber monocoque and steel roll-cage and front, rear and lateral crash elements.
The Lexus LF-CC concept car which premiered at the 2012 Paris Motor Show previewed the recently revealed new-generation Lexus IS 350 sedan.
