Latifi leaving Williams F1 at season's end

Just before the return of Formula One Singapore Grand Prix next week, Williams Racing has opened up a race seat for the 2023 F1 season.

That is after they announced they are parting ways with Canadian driver Nicholas Latifi by the end of this year, bringing an end to a partnership that lasted for three years.

Latifi debuted with Williams Racing back in 2020. And so far, Latifi has driven all of his 55 F1 Grand Prix starts with the squad. The Canadian's most notable achievement is a 7th place finish in the 2021 Hungarian Grand Prix, where he scored his first-ever Formula One points. Another points haul followed when he placed 9th in the rain-soaked Belgian Grand Prix.

But ever since Latifi got in Formula One, he's been largely outscored by then-Williams driver George Russell, and his current teammate Alexander Albon. Not to mention, Latifi was outdriven by substitute driver Nyck de Vries, who stood in for Albon at the Italian Grand Prix after the Thai-British driver suffered from appendicitis.

The big question now is, who will be the replacement? As of now, Williams Racing is yet to name who will take over Latifi's seat next year. However, we like to put our money on Nyck de Vries, who has proven, in just one race, that he's F1 ready; sans the shoulder pain. What about you?
